What the site is

A free fragrance finder: a quiz that matches you with perfumes and colognes, pages about each fragrance, and links to stores that sell them. We don't sell fragrance and we don't handle payments. Anything you buy, you buy from the store, on the store's own terms.

Not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you think a child has given us an email, write to hello@mynextperfume.com and we'll delete it.

What we keep, and for how long

• Your quiz answers. They live in your results link and in your browser. If you save them, we keep them with your email and the fragrances you save, until you ask us to delete them.
• Your email, if you give it, to send what you asked for: a 6-digit code (it works for 15 minutes) and your private link. Nothing is saved for an email until its code is typed back. We don't send newsletters.
• Limits on emails we send. To stop anyone flooding an inbox, we count requests that send an email. We keep only scrambled (hashed) versions of the email address and your IP address for this, never the address or IP itself, and delete them after 2 days.
• A sign-in cookie that remembers this phone or computer is signed in, for up to 400 days, plus the same link in your browser's own storage. Signing out removes both. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
• Store-button taps. When you tap a store button we log: the time, the store, the kind of store, the fragrance, which button and page it was on (the page's path, never a private link), which of our two sites, and a random device id if your browser has one. No name, email or IP address. We keep these for up to 24 months to see which links people use.
• Server logs. Like any website, our host records each request, including your IP address, browser type and the page asked for. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and our host keeps them for a short time (days, not months).
• Feedback you send: what you wrote, your email if you gave it, the page you were on (with any private link removed) and the time, emailed to our team. We keep it in our inbox as long as it's useful.

Who processes it for us: Vercel (hosting and server logs), Supabase (our database: saved lists, codes, the send limits and the store-button log) and Resend (sending email). They handle it only to run the site for us. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with stores or advertisers.

When you go to a store, the store can see that you came from our site (your browser tells it the address of our site, not your private link), and our affiliate tag if the link has one. From then on, the store's own privacy policy applies.

Your list is private: only someone with your private link can open it, so keep it to yourself.

Fragrances and stores

We label every store link for what it is. Authorized stores are the brand's own site, and store pages we've checked carry that fragrance. Department & beauty stores are well-known stores that sell fragrance; the button opens their search for the exact name, and we haven't confirmed that each one is authorized by the brand. Discount retailers (FragranceX and Jomashop) say they sell genuine bottles below list price; stock and boxes vary. Amazon links are labelled as Amazon, and sellers there vary. "Try a sample first" links go to a sample subscription.

Prices, sizes and stock come from the stores and change often, so check the store before you buy. Notes and facts come from the sources linked on each fragrance's page (often a retailer's listing, sometimes the brand's site), and we say which one. Descriptions are our own words.

Matches and "smells like" lists are suggestions worked out from listed notes, not a promise of how a scent will smell on you. Skin changes a scent, so try a sample when you can, and check the ingredients if you have allergies or sensitive skin.

My Next Perfume is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the brands shown. Brand names are trademarks of their owners. The same goes for My Next Cologne.

The monogram tiles that stand in for a bottle are our own design, made from a house's initials; they are not the brands' logos. Our photographs are from Unsplash, credited in our photo credits, and none shows a brand's bottle or logo.

The fine print

As is. The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it's accurate, complete, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. We work to keep notes, prices and links right, but they come from other sites and can be wrong or out of date.

Limits on our liability. As far as the law allows, DPH Enterprises LLC isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for anything you buy from a store we link to (the store is responsible for its products, prices, shipping and returns). If we're ever liable to you for anything else, the most we're liable for is $50.

Using the site fairly. Please don't misuse it: no scraping in bulk, no attempts to break in or overload it, and no using the email boxes to send codes to people who didn't ask.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

Changes. We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change is important, we'll say so on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
